總獎金236.9萬美元（約7060.8萬台幣）的杜哈女網賽開打，「鬼之切球」謝淑薇女單初登場，遭遇會外賽晉級的斯洛維尼亞對手瑪耶妮琪，也是雙方巡迴賽首度過招。歷經1小時18分鐘激戰，「寶島一姐」終挾2個6：4解決陌生敵人，開胡晉級32強，次輪強碰俄國第11種子佩特洛娃，勢必又有場硬仗。2008年美網大滿貫女單次輪，謝淑薇曾直落2不敵這位剽悍俄女，5年後狹路相逢，她準備找已經30歲的老冤家復仇。
